Dean Nelson  Chairman

Dean Nelson is chairman of PRIMEDIA Inc. He is also chief executive officer and founder of Capstone Consulting LLC.

Prior to founding Capstone Consulting in 2000, Nelson was a senior vice president with The Boston Consulting Group where he ran the Chicago office and was a member of BCG's Management Committee. Nelson served clients in a number of industries, including consumer products and retail, industrial and high-tech. From 1981 to 1983 he was a process control engineer at Shell Oil Company.

Nelson has worked with a number of portfolio companies, most significantly PRIMEDIA Inc., Rockwood and Borden Chemical. He also participates in KKR's Investment and Portfolio Committee meetings.

Charles Stubbs is president and chief executive officer of PRIMEDIA, the #1 print and online publisher and distributor of advertising-supported consumer guides in the U.S. through its Consumer Source Inc operation. Stubbs provides strategic vision and direction to all business lines and operations, including Consumer Source Inc, Apartment Guide, Rentals.com, New Home Guide and DistribuTech.

Prior to joining PRIMEDIA, Stubbs served as president and chief executive officer of YELLOWPAGES.com, where he oversaw the formation of the newly formed site and led it to provide more than 100 million monthly consumer business searches.

Stubbs earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Vanderbilt University and an undergraduate degree from Cornell University.

Kim Payne is senior vice president and chief financial officer of PRIMEDIA Inc., responsible for oversight of the accounting and finance functions.

Payne continues to serve as chief financial officer of PRIMEDIA's Consumer Source Inc business. She joined Consumer Source as an accountant in 1991 and during her more than 18-year tenure with the company, has served in various finance management roles, including financial analyst, director of analysis and planning, and vice president of finance. Payne's responsibilities have included budgeting, forecasting, acquisitions and divestitures, financial analysis and capital expenditure management.

Payne holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Florida State University and a Masters of Business Administration from Kennesaw State University.

As Senior Vice President of Accounting and Chief Accounting Officer (CAO), Mike Barber is responsible for all accounting functions, including oversight of accounting departments, periodic reporting to the Securities and Exchange Commission and accounting policies.

Barber, a certified public accountant, joined PRIMEDIA from HomeBanc Corp. where he was the CAO. Prior to HomeBanc, he was the Manager of Accounting Policy and Reporting for Union Planters Corporation and before that a Senior Manager in the Financial Services Industry Practice at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP.

 
 Keith Belknap, Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary

Keith Belknap Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary

Keith Belknap is responsible for all legal matters for PRIMEDIA Inc. and its subsidiaries. In his role as senior vice president, he is responsible for oversight of the organization's corporate development functions.

Prior to joining PRIMEDIA, Belknap was assistant general counsel of PPG Industries, Inc., a Fortune 250 global manufacturer. Previous to PPG, he served as a Principal Counsel to Georgia-Pacific Corporation. Belknap came to Georgia-Pacific from the law firm of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP, where he focused on domestic and international strategic and financial transactions and general corporate matters.

He graduated with honors from Harvard Law School, and is a member of the Bar in the states of California and Illinois (inactive). He received his Bachelor of Arts degree with honors from The University of Tulsa.

Arlene Mayfield Senior Vice President and President, Apartments and Homes Divisions

As Senior Vice President, PRIMEDIA, Arlene Mayfield plays a key role in the strategic direction of PRIMEDIA and its subsidiaries. As President of Apartment Guide and NewHomeGuide.com, she is responsible for overseeing 77 apartment publications, ApartmentGuide.com, 29 homes publications and NewHomeGuide.com.

Mayfield began her career with the company in 1993 as the publisher of the Albuquerque Apartment Guide. She became publisher of the Orlando Apartment Guide in 1997 and subsequently became regional director for the Eastern Region in 1999, managing 9 markets located within North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia. In September 2003, Mayfield was promoted to vice president of the Homes division, where she oversaw 32 publications and strengthened the division over a two year period.

Due to her success, in October 2005, Mayfield was promoted to president of Apartment Guide and in December 2007 she took on the additional role of senior vice president, PRIMEDIA. Most recently, in November 2008, Mayfield became president of NewHomeGuide.com.

 

 
 William Mayer, Vice President and Treasurer

William Mayer Vice President and Treasurer

William Mayer is the vice president and treasurer of PRIMEDIA Inc. and its subsidiaries.  He is responsible for all treasury and cash management functions for the company.

Prior to joining PRIMEDIA, Mayer was the president of Blue Magnet Partners, a venture resource firm. Previous to Blue Magnet, he served as the vice president and treasurer for NDCHealth Corporation.  From 1999 to 2002, Mayer served as the chief financial officer and treasurer of two venture backed high-tech companies.  Prior to 1999, Mayer spent 12 years with two fortune 500 companies in various financial management roles.

Mayer holds a Masters of Business Administration degree from the University of Kansas. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from the University of Missouri.

 
 Michael Shaw, Vice President, Tax

Michael Shaw Vice President, Tax

Michael Shaw is responsible for all corporate tax matters for PRIMEDIA Inc. and its subsidiaries.

Prior to joining the company, Shaw was vice president, Tax at EarthLink, Inc. in Atlanta, Ga. where he oversaw all corporate tax matters. He also played a pivotal role in analysis and planning for key acquisitions. From 1993-2001, Shaw held tax leadership positions with corporations in Steel, Aerospace and Food Processing industries in North Carolina and Virginia. 

Shaw graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree, with a concentration in Accounting, from Old Dominion University. He is a licensed certified public accountant in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

 
 Mark Brooks, Vice President, Internal Audit

Mark Brooks Vice President, Internal Audit

Mark Brooks is vice president, Internal Audit of PRIMEDIA Inc. and its subsidiaries. In this role, he is responsible for oversight of the Internal Audit function, ethics and compliance.

Prior to joining PRIMEDIA, Brooks was director Commercial Compliance of Georgia-Pacific LLC, where he served for 16 years in various departments including Corporate Security, Risk Management, Internal Audit, Benefits and Accounting. Previous to Georgia-Pacific, he served as an Internal Audit staff manager for BellSouth Corporation. Brooks came to BellSouth from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, where he served as a special agent.

Brooks holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting from Augusta College and a Master of Business Administration degree in Taxation from Pace University.

Brooks is a certified public accountant and a certified internal auditor.
